What do I need to do to get started?
- Sign up on kling.is. It takes a few minutes.
- Try the system straight away in the test environment, without any real payments being made.
- Apply to switch on live payments. We send you a due diligence form and an agreement to sign.
- Once the acquirer has approved the application the live environment opens and you can start accepting payments.
What does it cost to use Kling?
You only pay when a payment goes through. No setup fee, no monthly fee and no fixed charge.

The fee for an online bank claim is at least ISK 25 and at most ISK 250 per claim.
Acquirer fees are added on top of Kling's fee for card payments, and bank costs on top of Kling's fee for online bank claims.
Is there a monthly fee, a setup fee or a notice period?
No. You pay nothing for having an account, nothing to set the system up and nothing if you go a while without using it.
That suits anyone who sells irregularly, at events for instance, or only during a busy season.
Which ways of getting paid are available?
- Payment link. You create it in the dashboard and share it anywhere.
- The payment window. It opens on top of your own website and the customer pays without leaving it.
- Kling POS. You charge on the spot from your phone or your computer, with no card terminal.
- Online bank claims. A claim is sent straight to the customer's online bank.
- The API. Full control for anyone who wants to build their own payment flow.
Is there an API and documentation?
Yes. The API is at api.kling.is and the documentation at api.kling.is/docs. It covers payments, subscriptions, customers, claims, discount codes and more.
We also offer a browser SDK for the payment window and an npm package for backend integrations.
Is Apple Pay or Google Pay available?
Apple Pay appears as a payment method of its own on Apple devices that support it. It depends on your payment provider: it is available on Straumur, has to be switched on for you on Verifone, and is not available on Rapyd.
Google Pay is available on Straumur. It is not available on Verifone or Rapyd.
Can I charge in euros or dollars?
Yes. Kling supports Icelandic krónur, euros and dollars. We switch each currency on for your account, and after that you can both price and settle in it.
Online bank claims are in Icelandic krónur only.
Does Kling support subscriptions?
Yes. Recurring payments are built in. You choose how often you bill, monthly or yearly for instance. The card details are stored so the payments can be collected automatically.
Subscriptions can also be billed with a claim in the online bank instead of a card.
