Payment links

Get paid in Iceland without a website or code. Create a Kling payment link in the dashboard and send it by email, SMS or social media, or create links through the API.

A payment link is a checkout page with a fixed price that you can share anywhere: email, SMS, Messenger, a QR code or a button on your site. The customer opens it and pays by card. No website or code needed.

  1. Sign in at kling.is/dashboard.
  2. Open Payment Links and create a new link.
  3. Add what you are selling: a description, price and quantity per line.
  4. Choose what to ask the customer for (name, email, phone, kennitala) and, if you like, how many times the link can be used and when it expires.
  5. Share the link.

Each payment shows up under Payments in the dashboard.

POST /v1/payment-links:

bash
curl -X POST https://api.kling.is/v1/payment-links \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $KLING_SECRET_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "name": "Summer course 2026",
    "items": [
      { "description": "Course fee", "quantity": 1, "unit_amount": 25000, "vat_rate": 0 }
    ],
    "collect_name": true,
    "collect_national_id": true,
    "max_uses": 40
  }'
  • items (required): each with description, quantity, unit_amount and vat_rate, or a product_id.
  • max_uses: 1 for a one-time link, any number for a limit, leave out for unlimited.
  • expires_at: Unix timestamp after which the link stops working.
  • collect_name, collect_email, collect_phone, collect_national_id: what the customer must fill in.
  • allow_promotion_codes, save_payment_method, success_url, cancel_url, metadata.

The response includes the link's url. You can also list (GET /v1/payment-links), read, update (PATCH), deactivate (DELETE) and reactivate (POST /v1/payment-links/{id}/activate) links.

Subscriptions and other amounts

  • Add a subscription product to a link and it becomes a subscription link: the customer is charged every period. See Subscriptions.
  • A payment link has fixed prices. For donations or other pay-what-you-want payments, see contributions.
